-
Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy stimulates the body’s healing processes to strengthen and repair injured or painful joints and connective tissues. As a recognized orthopedic procedure, prolotherapy can be used to address areas of instability by promoting regrowth of key tissues.
Patients experiencing painful symptoms in the lower back or other spinal regions, extremities or joints may benefit from prolotherapy treatment. All patients require a consultation prior to treatment to assess suitability.
-
PRP Therapy
Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy utilizes a patient's own biological material to trigger a natural healing process. The injection solution is created by drawing a sample of blood from the patient, which is then spun down using a centrifuge to create a solution with a higher platelet concentration. By injecting this solution into target areas, the healing process can be stimulated or accelerated.
Patients experiencing musculoskeletal pain or injuries; chronic tendon injuries such as tennis elbow or jumper's knee; post-surgical pain in muscles, tendons or ligaments; or, osteoarthritic pain may benefit from PRP treatment.
Our Prolotherapy and PRP Therapy can be used to address pain and symptoms associated with:
Headaches
Chronic neck pain
Rotator cuff tears
Shoulder dislocations and instability
Tennis and golfer elbow
Chronic pain throughout spinal regions
Runner and Jumper’s Knee
Meniscal tears
Foot conditions, including plantar fasciitis
Chronic ankle sprains
Achilles tendonitis
Osteoarthritis
Stimulating Natural Healing
Prolotherapy and PRP Therapy are treatment options that harness the natural healing properties of the body. By creating a mild area of controlled injury, these treatments encourage collagen production, or regrowth of key structural elements to enhance healing. With a personalized treatment plan, including additional treatments, the original strength to the area can be restored.

At your first appointment, Dr. Alden will conduct a thorough assessment to note the history of the issue, and any other factors of health. This visit will help to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment and exactly where the best area of treatment would be. In most cases, the treatment session will occur at a subsequent appointment. Additionally, there may be other appointments booked prior to injection acupuncture or other treatments to help release tight muscles and decrease painful symptoms.
When you arrive for your prolotherapy or PRP treatment, the area of injection will be sterilized and the injection will be prepared using a personalized formulation. With ultrasound guidance, Dr. Alden will masterfully completion the injection process.
-
While each person and condition is different, you can expect to receive 2-6 sets of injections over an interval of 4-6 weeks. Patients may note benefits after the first treatment, and throughout the healing process. The full benefits of the treatment may not be experienced until 6 to 12 months after treatment completion.
Generally, patients receiving PRP therapy require fewer treatments than those who undergo prolotherapy.
-
Although Prolotherapy and PRP Therapy can be used to treat similar conditions, PRP Therapy is often more effective over fewer treatments. Certain patients that may have a more difficult time healing are likely better suited for PRP.
